JAN'S STORY

Jan Black is a business owner, teacher, trainer and mentor with a passion for caregiving. She was also in the first class of women to go to the Jamaica School of Agriculture which later helped shape her appreciation and approach for Structured Activities in care. Jan has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 1st-hand nursing experience in multiple settings including hospitals, home care, private duty care and her own memory care community.

Jan’s professional journey in care started in Hawaii where she worked in hospital and home care settings. Jan then served her local Hawaii community through Jan’s Hanai Care before coming to New Hampshire to be close to family. Jan then worked with Senior Helpers and helped to start a Memory Care Community in the Seacoast. In over 20 years of business ownership, Jan never discharged a resident because their care became too difficult.

The Haven at Lee seeks to build on Jan’s continued research and collaboration with thoughtful, heart-centered leaders within the care industry. Our Leadership Team is honored and excited to be included in this part of Jan’s journey… and privileged to be sharing her approach to care with our Residents and surrounding communities.
